Federica Cavaletti
My name is Federica Cavaletti and I am a PhD candidate at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, in Milan.
I obtained my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the State University of Milan. During the last years of my studies, I increasingly oriented my interests in the fields of aesthetics and cinema in particular. My Master's thesis was dedicated to "The dialectics of the gazes in the cinematographic experience".
In September 2016, I enrolled as a PhD candidate in the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Department of Communication and Performing Art).
My PhD project focusses on the temporal aspects of the audiovisual experience. The main goal of my research is to clarify in what ways and to what extent subjective perception and elaboration of represented time affect the overall experience of different media products, cinema and video art in particular. My method is rooted in aesthetics and semiotics, while at the same time drawing inspiration from recent research in experimental phenomenology, cognitive psychology and neurosciences.
