Catalin Brylla is senior lecturer in film at the University of West London. Focusing on documentary film studies, cognitive film theory, phenomenology and anthropology, his research aims for a pragmatic understanding of documentary spectatorship with regards to experience, empathy and narrative comprehension. He is currently co-editing two anthologies, “Documentary and Dis/ability” (with Helen Hughes) and “Cognitive Theory in Documentary” (with Mette Kramer).
